Our weekly section on the people who rule the social media scene in Oman this time is dedicated to Fahmi Al Ma'Awali. I've known Fahmi for quite a while; a great personality, a volcano of ideas and a fun person to be with.
Here is what Fahmi shared with us:
I'm a concept creator and social
media activist with a strong following of 75k. I aim to be more of a concept
whisperer, helping people with their concepts. I have organised many known events such as the Beach Bash and Cocomint. My latest work was creating a new motivational
platform called 'insta8oman'. Currently I maintain a living as a team
building facilitator.
Current
place of work?
I work for myself as event organiser. Name of
company Eventus.
How
did your passion for social media started?
It was spontanous and sudden; I started several Facebook pages in one go. I then got introduced to Tumblr and Instagram later (that took me a
while), I'm hoping a blog is next.
Have
you ever thought it could become your 'real' job?
I built it so it can be long lasting and a
money/value making revenue, but I do not see it as a full time job for me, even
though I spend more time on social media than work.
What's
your favourite platform?
Instagram, it is so easy and it unleashed my creativity.
What's
the biggest challenge you had to face?
Growing fast. The rest is straight forward. I'm glad I'm growing steadily.
And
the biggest satisfaction?
Having the largest personal Facebook page in Oman. And to
be known.
How
many hours a day do you spend on social media?
3-8 hours.
Who's
the person you read/follow the most online?
I don't follow anyone, I'm random every day.
If
you were not into social media, what would you be doing?
I would be in the social world.
Good work Fahmi. If you missed previous Oman’s Social Celebrities then check out Nicole Bassit, Riyadh Al-Balushi and Rasha Al Madani.
