An Arab company that beats western corporations at their own game

Aramex is a global, progressive and innovative company headquartered in Amman, Jordan. The company is the largest global freight, logistics and transportation company in the Middle East, and one of the top five players in the world behind international brands such as FedEx and DHL.

Aramex has built a strong reputation for having a customer-focused culture and operations that shows quite the opposite of the stereotypes westerners often label Arabs.

Aramex through its website and social media has managed to build relationships and strengthen their brand with their customers. The CEO, Fadig Ghandour, (@fadig), is very active on Twitter where he openly gives kudos to employees, responds to questions and retweets a customer’s stories as well as quickly solving problems and complaints.

Aramex has also its own Twitter account as well as the Shop&Ship service. Of course we can also find Aramex on Facebook and YouTube.

If you look at the way Aramex interacts with it customers and potential ones you will notice how good the team is at using it, much better than Aramex's competitors from the western world. Hats off and let's hope more Arab companies will follow this example.

  1. You are so right! This is great news! Working together, Middle East and Western companies can learn a lot of each other. I didn't know that Western companies would accept to work with a Middle East company. With all the terrorism going on right now......:(.

  2. Hi Domino, let's forget about more delicate issues such as terrorism, religion, politics, etc. and let's stick to what we're good at...social media...:) I had the pleasure to meet several people from Aramex here in Oman, including the GM and Operations Manager; I immediately noticed how switched on they are as well as being very open minded, professional and customer oriented. That is something that speaks volume about the company. The HQ in Jordan is definitely doing a great job with its employees. As i said, hopefully many more companies, not only in the Middle East but also worldwide, will follow such example.

  4. Hi Maurizio,
now I understand what you meant by 'using facebook for your business'. I looked up Aramex on FB and found that the CEO even writes a blog - a good idea, and I think of showing that to one of our VIPs of my Federal Govermental Workingplace. I am interested what the reaction will be.
In my work I write a lot of e-mails with my advice-seaking customers (its career guidance for beginning students) and so have a lot of connections, their questions and am able to help, if needed - and get feedback :-) Of course not on FB, because our work is strictly confidential.
