Social media sites up to 82% in one year!!
We are spending more than five and half hours on social networks, that is the result of a global survey conducted by The Nielsen Company.
Globally, social networks and blogs are the most popular online category followed by online games and instant messaging. With 206.9 million unique visitors, Facebook, surprise surprise, was the No. 1 global social networking destination in December 2009 and 67% of global social media users visited the site during the month.
The survey took into consideration several countries such as Japan, Brazil, United Kingdom, France, Spain, Australia and the United States just to name a few but not huge markets like China, India and Indonesia. So these numbers are not really giving the real picture.
I also believe corporate website are losing importance, is there future for them?

Hi Intelligence. From a consumer's point of view, I agree that corporate websites are losing importance, unless they are so well-designed and well-managed that they provide the user with something akin to the experience of the social networks. How many corporate websites are as fun and ever-changing as the equivalent Facebook page, for example?

Anonymous, well designed websites would cost a lot so not every company would be able to afford it and to run it properly as you also need to have someone to look after it on the daily basis. As i mentioned in other posts i believe websites are long gone and have been replaced by other networks and platforms, more fun and more engaging. Also, as we see from the current poll no one, so far, voted websites as their main inspiration to buy a product or service...is that a clue?
