#Hashtag fail

A hashtag is a word or a short phrase prefixed with the symbol #. The purpose of the hashtag is to categorize topics, bring ideas together, inspire exchange and encourage others to join in.
In 2009 Twitter began to hyperlink all hashtags to search results containing all recent posts mentioning either the hashtag or the standard spelling of such words, provided that such words are written in the same order of characters. This was accentuated in 2010 with the introduction of 'Trending Topics' on the Twitter front page, as highly trafficked hashtags are featured as Trending Topics.
Hashtags can be used on several platforms such as Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, Instagram, YouTube or Google+, but NOT on Facebook.
Many people, but also several companies, probably are not aware of it and use hashtags on Facebook mostly because their Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts are linked and ultimately set up to auto sync. While the use of hashtags make sense on Twitter and Instagram it does not make sense on Facebook making your status update unreadable and quite annoying. Examples:

Remember; social media networking sites are all different. Facebook differs from Twitter, which differs from LinkedIn, which differs from Pinterest, and so on. They are all unique in their style, tone of voice and their demographics. And they all use their own 'language' and formats. Having synced accounts might save you time but won't make it easy for your fans :)
