More and more people and companies are using Facebook, as of today in Oman there are about 310,000 active users, so compared to my last top 10 there has been a huge increase in terms of new fans as well as new pages.
I’d like to congratulate my friends at Oman Sail for grabbing the first spot at the expenses of Oman Chips. It is now the only page having passed the 30,000 fans mark. In less than a year through hard work, passion and creativity the team at Oman Sail have managed to become a global brand on Facebook. Very well done.
Big jumps forward also by His Majesty (unofficial page) and the Sultanate of Oman pages both above 25,000 fans.
All others are well behind but all moving forward.
A short consideration; it’s still strange (or is it?) not to see any bank or telecom on Facebook. I wonder when, and if, they’ll ever evolve their communication mix and be up to speed with the rest of the world...

Grand Hyatt Muscat Team
Well noted! Telecom etc are now considering marketing via social media platforms big time, in Oman. Also note there is Haya Water with 4364 likes although not active in last few months.
ReplyDelete@Nadia; yes Merge 104.8 is a great page and one of the fastest growing. I believe next year will be in the top 10.
ReplyDelete@Hyatt; well done again guys and all the best to you too for a great 2012.
@Nimit; telecoms have been considering social media for a while...how long more will it take? Getting old here ;). And yes, Haya does not seem to be active any longer but thanks.
A pity we can't see how much each of these has spent on their journey to fan-dom! It would be interesting to see which ones have opened their bank accounts and which have grown through genuine appreciation.

ReplyDeleteHas around 2500 'friends'
We (like others) are using a personal profile so I guess we wont be on any list of popular facebook 'pages' in Oman. I know we should move to a page (and will have to if we hit 5000), but for now its ok that facebook let us do it, plus people get our posts directly in their feed.
Muscat Buy Sell Cars page is cooperation between MuscatAds.com and Muscat Buy Sell - content is pulled from MA.com.
